Suite 100 Gallery is proud to announce a group show dedicated to party art. Andrea Heimer, Jonathon Kimbrell and Greg Gossel's each take a variation on a stylistic theme, bringing their own perspective through a common genre.

"Party" demonstrates a range of contemporary expression in a retro style. Andrea Heimer delves into the facial expression of opposing emotions in her silk-screened portraits, the same face reading distinct states through context. Jonathon Kimbrell examines political representation in the election process by declaring the candidacy of superheroes. Greg Gossel illustrates struggle and beauty through visible processes, allowing the viewer to follow his trail markers.

Together, these artists spark a conversation about our current state of affairs, and the human experiences we endure and celebrate, while connecting us with our history. "Party" is a show not to be missed.

Andrea Heimer's statement on "Party":

The group of silk screen portraits I've made for "Party" are an exercise in repetition. I've used several designs of women's faces in various states of emotion and made two paintings of each face.

Though each set of two paintings consists of the same woman, the feeling coming from each couldn't be more different. Using layers of silk screened images, bright colors, and acrylics, the portrait morphs from lost and vulnerable in one image to downright malicious in the next.

These paintings embody a pop quality consistent with my body of work; all radiate bold colors and repetitive 2D images. In addition to the repetition of the women's faces, reoccurring imagery including flowers, scissors, and polka dots pop up throughout the works, aiding in the "yin and yang" theme of these twelve portraits.

Greg Gossel's statement on "Party":

My latest "Terror" series deals with fear, sorrow, and temptation. It's a visual history of change and deterioration.

Jonathon Kimbrell's statement on "Party":

Jonathon Kimbrell's contribution to this show is part of an ongoing series called "Come Super-Tuesday."

"Come Super-Tuesday" is a new series of paintings I've started to commentate on the presidential campaign of 2008. The Bush Administration is nearing the end of its 2nd term in office, and campaigns are well underway to determine the next Commander-In-Chief. The American people are demanding change, not only in foreign policy, but domestic, as well.

The premise of "Come Super-Tuesday" is a parody of campaign adverts and candidates, utilizing classic-era superheroes as the foundation. The majority of Americans are angry with the current administration, and have serious doubts about our next leader, and the future of our country.

Superheroes have been looked upon for strength, leadership and moral values for over 60 years. I thought it would be interesting/poignant to have someone like Superman or Batman run for political office. The people will elect movie stars, so why not superheroes?

The planning is still in the early stages, but big preparations are being made. The plan is to continue with this series until Election Day, 2008, giving me just over a year and a half to make my point.
