Andrea Heimer has been painting little more than a year but already her bombastic portraits have captured a growing audience in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. As a former writer, Heimer picked up a paintbrush in June 2007 and never looked back. Her bright, neo-pop style depicts mainly women and focuses on subjects such as wealth, greed, and addiction. Accented in splashes of deceivingly happy colors, Heimer's world is one where debutantes reveal they are secretly cutters, society girls lead double lives, and money is no object.
Andrea Heimer was born in Montana in 1981. She is self-taught and currently resides near Seattle.

Statement on "Party":
The group of silk screen portraits I've made for "Party" are an exercise in repetition. I've used several designs of women's faces in various states of emotion and made two paintings of each face.
Though each set of two paintings consists of the same woman, the feeling coming from each couldn't be more different. Using layers of silk screened images, bright colors, and acrylics, the portrait morphs from lost and vulnerable in one image to downright malicious in the next.
These paintings embody a pop quality consistent with my body of work; all radiate bold colors and repetitive 2D images. In addition to the repetition of the women's faces, reoccurring imagery including flowers, scissors, and polka dots pop up throughout the works, aiding in the "yin and yang" theme of these twelve portraits.
